The 2017 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was won by German Nikias Arndt.
This is the first victory for Team Sunweb and they are happy to have won this race in Australia. Arndt was in fine form and had to fend off the challenge of the 23-man group to win the race.
The favorite man tipped to win the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Australia, Simon Gerrans, had to finish in the 2nd spot. The third person to complete the podium was Cameron Meyer. The British man Luke Rowe of Team Sky had to put in all the hard work to complete the race in the 5th position. This is the 2nd time that the Welshman had to finish in the 5th position. He had finished 4th in the 2015 race.
The 2011 tour winner Cadel Evans led the peloton in the neutralized zone after the start. It was only when the flags dropped that he was left behind. Rowe said that he had great control and speed for the most part of the race and enjoyed his ride. It was a perfect race to ride on and he was happy to be in the right place at the right time. He was not happy to finish in the 5th position and said that there is nothing one can do in a bike race. It has its ups and downs.
Cadel Evans was happy to see the German Nikias Arndt win the race and he believes that the German has the potential to do well in the future races as well. Evans was happy with the way the race was organized and conducted and also did not waste any time to snap some photos with the winner of the race. He was pleased to share the stage with Nikias.
